2014: Look Back at the Stocking Collection

Last year I made everyone in my family a stocking for their Christmas gift. I borrowed my mother’s sewing machine and dug out every scrap of cloth, including clothes I mostly don’t wear anymore and bed sheets that got caught in the process. It was a great time, lots of fun, and I felt very productive. Now it’s time to start a new project for this holiday season. Recently I did a painting that broke me free from the fears of painting, yes FEAR of painting. I always thought I am more of a drawer than painter but I got over it and now I feel confident enough to go for it. It is so satisfying and so much fun to learn from brush stroke to brush stroke, even if I have no formal training, to make an actual image by the end of it.

This year it will be a painting or painted object for each person, whew, good thing I’m starting in September! We have a lot of folks in our family.

Here is last year’s collection of stockings (pardon the slow load time, there are a lot of them)….now, what to paint what to paint what to paint?
