Smoothies: Day 5 – Morning GREEN Tea Recipe

Morning is a funny time. I have never been that into breakfast. Don’t get me wrong, I will always be willing to stuff a doughnut or muffin in my mouth with a creamy sugary cup of coffee or tea. Hmmm sounds good!! If you made me some eggs and toast I would also not refuse. The thing is, when I’m alone I don’t even think about eating when I wake up. That takes a few hours, and THEN I want something to eat. Trying to think of something to have first thing that’s not carbohydrates, no added sugar, no cooking, all veg/fruit, no meat, no dairy….whew… then it occurred to me. I was drinking a delicious cup of spicy/sweet tea (no sugar just the flavor of the tea) and I wondered if that would be good mixed into a smoothie.

Yes it is.

Taste: 7/10 Really good. The tea comes through, and the tiny hint of peanut butter and banana without any spinach flavor.
Texture: 5/10 This one is thin, with the tiniest bits of stuff, so it’s not the smoothest drink, but still fine with me.
Amount: This made enough to fill my giraffe cup (see photo below) and then about halfway again.

  • Cup of tea dumped in the blender
  • 1 banana
  • 1 heaped tsp. peanut butter
  • 1 giant handful of spinach leaves
  • 2 Tbls. almond milk (really didn’t need it)

Really really good!!
