Sometimes the memories of amazing times make quieter times fantastic!! Cooking alone in my kitchen is wonderful, and thinking of my friends some more wonderfulness.
I was just at the grocery store. There were many people in groovy costumes, sexy pirates, Dracula, cowboy and cowgirl, zombies and the like. It’s not actually Halloween yet, but it’s Saturday night, the Cardinals just won the World Series (and I live in Missouri), the weather is beautiful, and everyone just needs a good time. SO, do I want to participate? Do I want to go to a party? Dress up? Socialize? What I decided is no, I don’t want to do any of that.
I totally understand the appeal, the fun, and I have done some fun stuff in my life that did involve such things, however, tonight I want to do just the most simple things and enjoy my evening. I want to cook some new foods for me and my husband, smell up the kitchen with curry and other goodness. I want to watch some of my shows that have been saving up all week like Antiques Roadshow and Project Runway. I want to contemplate what to do with the two pumpkins I bought last week, will they be painted or cut…we shall see. Oh the drama.
I think some people who do go out on the town might have the same inclination as me to just stay home and make it a nice night in, but they get swept up in the river of activity. If my whole group of friends were close by I might knock together a Girl’s Night Out, but we are in different places and for tonight I’ll be super satisfied and happy and content to be here chopping veggies, mixing, stirring, eating, and being entertained:)
There is room for all kinds of fun in this world, make your own!!
